Kunstencentrum nona is a creative hub in the city centre of Mechelen with a multidisciplinary focus and a unique constellation that invites artists to contribute to the organisation's artistic identity and storytelling. Since the merger with Mechelen-based theatre company Abattoir Fermé and nomadic music platform JazzLab in 2023, nona's programme has become increasingly diverse, combining cutting-edge theater, contemporary dance, striking visual arts via the Contour Series, and jazz concerts in its brand new jazzclub Nova Express. With two venues - one exuding the charm of an old theater, and the other a well-equipped and multi-purpose black box -, nona is able to combine performances with artist residencies, as such becoming a house brimming with non-stop creativity and exploration. Add to that several multi-day events like the BRAND! jazz festival and outdoor theater/dance festival BROEK, and you get a generous programme that is as adventurous as it is accessible.
