Founded in 2019 with the aim of fostering a dialogue between contemporary art and the territory of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza, DucatoPrize focuses its attention on artists whose research is capable of sparking critical reflection on the most significant and pressing aspects of the present.
In 2019, the prize was awarded to Lito Kattou (Contemporary) and to Gaia De Megni, Paolo Bufalini, and Luca Marcelli (Academy), with a special mention to Giulio Scalisi.
In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Guendalina Cerruti won the Contemporary category, Byron Gago the Academy category, with special mentions to Pietro Agostoni, Monia Ben Hamouda, Clarissa Baldassarri, and Giulia Crivellaro.
In 2021, the prize went to Nona Inescu (Contemporary) and Carla Giaccio Darias (Academy), with a special mention to Olivia Erlanger.
In 2023, Adji Dieye was awarded in the Contemporary category and Friedrich Andreoni in the Academy category, with a special mention to Tomaso De Luca and the Residency Prize to Wisrah C. V. da R. Celestino.
