The Medina Triennial is a site-responsive contemporary art initiative that brings together local, national, and international artists to engage with the singular histories, landscapes, and communities of Medina and Western New York. The Triennial fosters critical dialogue and active participation through ambitious commissions, public engagement, and institutional partnerships. Supporting the development of new work, it champions artistic experimentation and curatorial innovation.
Initiated in partnership with New York Power Authority and the New York State Canal Corporation as part of a broader effort to revitalize the Erie Canal, the Triennial actively builds alliances with art institutions and Buffalo, Rochester, and beyond. These partnerships foreground creative exchange and shape the initiative’s dynamic collateral program of public engagement.
Guided by principles of ecological sustainability, equity, and accessibility, the Triennial offers all programming free of charge. Artist-led and community-centered, the Triennial affirms the role of art in strengthening civic life and driving social change.
