Founded by artist and educator Taeyoon Choi in 2023, forever✰ gallery focuses on sustainability, diversity, and accessibility in contemporary art. Upon realizing there are not many wheelchair-accessible galleries among the vibrant scenes of alternative spaces and commercial galleries in Seoul, Choi along with disabled artists in his community, imagined an artist-run gallery that is accessible for disabled people. While forever✰ gallery is not a completely barrier-free space, the space provides a ramp and restroom for disabled visitors and prides itself as a barrier-conscious space.
forever✰ gallery’s curatorial agenda centers on exhibitions and residencies. An interdependent system for mutual support among artists, curators, collectors and community. Forever does not draw clear boundaries between emerging and established artists, fine art and experimental art, design and craft, performing arts and education, disabled and non-disabled people. Instead, we work towards an ecosystem that support artists and arts workers to thrive and create critically engaged contemporary art.
