The School of Art & Art History at the University of South Florida is committed to the critical study and creative practice of art, design, and visual culture as powerful forces that shape and are shaped by culture, history, and lived experience. We recognize the capacity of images, objects, and designed experiences to construct, reflect, obscure, and expand our shared consciousness, and we engage students in these investigations to better understand how visual expression can both reveal and reimagine the world.
We foster a dynamic environment where research, experimentation, and interdisciplinary dialogue thrive. Through rigorous programs in studio art, graphic design, and art history, students explore both traditional and emerging media, developing the conceptual and technical skills needed to become reflective makers, designers, scholars, and engaged participants in a visually driven world.
We are committed to cultivating a learning environment that encourages open inquiry, thoughtful dialogue, and engagement with a broad range of ideas and creative practices. Our programs support collaboration across disciplines and perspectives, and we view the exchange of viewpoints as essential to artistic and intellectual development. Students are encouraged to explore the contexts of their work and to connect meaningfully with the communities and environments around them.
