The Sammlung Goetz is an internationally significant collection of contemporary art. Founded by the collector and former gallery owner Ingvild Goetz, the collection now comprises more than 5000 works from almost all artistic genres. In 2014, Ingvild Goetz donated part of her collection and the museum to the Free State of Bavaria, which has continued to operate it as a state institution ever since.
The Sammlung Goetz has recently opened a new temporary exhibition venue on Pacellistraße, in the heart of Munich. The exhibition concept features important artistic positions from the Sammlung Goetz in curated temporary exhibitions. This new centrally located space is intended to serve as a showcase, ensuring that the Sammlung Goetz remains visible while its main venue in Oberföhring is closed.
