The Museum of the National Taipei University of Education (MoNTUE), established in 2011 within a century-old institution that nurtured Taiwan’s first generation of modern artists, builds on this rich legacy while proactively engaging in modeling and inventing its role as an art museum in a new era.
Conceiving itself as an experimental laboratory, MoNTUE brings together visual arts, performance, films, sound, and technology, and has developed innovative programs such as Dreamin ’ MoNTUE to support emerging artists and revisit history through art practice. While rooted in academic resources, it extends beyond campus through international collaborations with institutions such as the Louvre and the University Museum Association of Kyoto. It also houses a unique collection of plaster casts gifted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, now partially restored and on permanent display, and initiates projects such as the One Piece Museum to connect with schools.
As a new form of art museum guided by the principle of “Museum…Evolves, ” , MoNTUE continues to engage the public as a dynamic platform for knowledge production and cultural innovation. Past exhibitions include: L’OUVRE 9, The Everlasting Bloom: Rediscovering Taiwanese Modern Art, Battle City: Finale, “Trajectory ” and “Miracle ” : KUSAMA Yayoi 1951-2005 from W Collection and More.
