The Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul is the official cultural institution of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Its mission is to promote the Italian language and culture in the Republic of Korea while fostering cultural exchange between the two countries. In collaboration with Korean cultural institutions, the Institute develops and presents a wide range of cultural initiatives spanning the performing and visual arts, music, cinema, literature, design, architecture, and craftsmanship. In recent years, the Institute has placed particular emphasis on the promotion of contemporary Italian art, supporting the work of internationally recognised emerging and mid-career artists. Its collaboration with the Gwangju Biennale and the Bomun Welfare Foundation represents an important initiative aimed at strengthening the ongoing cultural dialogue and expanding opportunities for international cooperation between Korea and Italy.
