The Deutscher Kuenstlerbund (Association of German Artists) was conceived as a joined initiative between the count Harry Kessler, influential promoter of arts and culture, former director of the Hamburg Art Gallery Alfred Lichtwark, and a group of painters such as Lovis Corinth, Max Klinger and Max Liebermann in 1903, becoming one of the oldest artists’ associations in Europe.
