The International Centre of Graphic Arts (MGLC) is a specialised museum for the art of printing since the turn of the 20th century as well as a production and residential centre for artists. The institution’s best-known activity is the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts, which was launched in 1955 and is considered the oldest graphic arts event in the world. An overview of the Biennale, from its beginnings to the present day, can be viewed on the Biennial Archive website.

The mission of MGLC is to carry out a range of activities that are interrelated and complementary. It looks after the extensive collection of prints and artists’ books created after the Second World War and is known as the most important international manifestation of contemporary art in Slovenia.

MGLC is located in Grad Tivoli, the oldest building on the grounds of today’s Tivoli Park. In 2017, the institution took Švicarija, another historically significant building in the park, into its care. Švicarija is fast becoming an international residency centre and support to cultural mobility, a centre for production, creativity and knowledge exchange, and a model for the revitalisation of cultural heritage.
