Byblos

Byblos presented ‘Out of True’ at Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami in 2006. Out of True, an architectural term for skewed construction, highlights a vision of the contemporary world in which reality no longer aligns with expectation. The witnessing of ones own obsolescence used to take a lifetime, but has today become routine. With daily advances in science and technology, the familiar present is fading before our eyes in the very instant that it re-invents itself, while the indeterminate future is fueling an anxiety about the rapidly changing world. This angst has infiltrated into the work of a number of contemporary artists whose practice reflects anticipation and wonder, even as it is darkly anchored by disquietude.
