Kunsthal Mechelen is a generous, open house for contemporary art. Operating without a central location, the Kunsthal’s programme will unfold across various spaces throughout the city, including public space. Without a centralized, the workings of Kunsthal will extend to different spaces in the city, including public space.

As a multi-faceted art house, Kunsthal Mechelen offers a safe havena haven to a myriad of voices and faces. Interchanging Rotating formations of artists, curators, thinkers and collectives bring the house to life in a program that refuses to be confined to a singular artistic frameworkthat doesn’t let itself be limited to one fixed artistic frame. In consultation with an advisaryadvisory commissioncommittee, orientations are redesignated and new as well as familiar voices are brought; young and experienced, local and international, more and less professional. They are paid fairly and supported with care and attention.orientations are redefined, welcoming both new and familiar voices—young and experienced, local and international, more and less established. Fair compensation, care and support are provided for all contributors.

Kunsthal Mechelen is open, agile, mixed. The program stands for flexibility, depth, and a departure from fixed formats, challenging established patterns of expectation. The program is flexible and unbound to previously set formats. It’s layered and breaks through patterns of expectations. It is’s polyamorous and waywardunpredictable; it moves and transforms to the rhythm cadence of a changing society and art field. The working institution wants seeks to show art that questions, researchesresearches, and imagines the world in all of its complexity. It wants to bring exciting, compelling, innovative—yet also critical— -but also critical- perspectives on life and society, engaging in dialogue with the city and its inhabitants.
