The Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles is an art foundation in Arles, France. Its mission is to deepen understanding of Van Gogh’s life and artistic vision while supporting contemporary artists whose work engages with his legacy. The Fondation presents two temporary exhibitions per year, with no permanent display.

Throughout the year, thanks to partnerships with public and private collections, the Fondation shows one or more original Van Gogh paintings alongside works by contemporary artists, including Nicole Eisenman, Urs Fischer, Thomas Hirschhorn, David Hockney, Roni Horn, Alice Neel, Laura Owens and Sigmar Polke. Since opening in April 2014, it has presented more than eighty paintings and fifty drawings by Van Gogh in Arles.

In addition to monographic and thematic exhibitions—such as Van Gogh and the Stars (2024) and The High Yellow Note (2024)—the Fondation hosts public events exploring Van Gogh’s contemporary relevance. In doing so, it fulfils Vincent’s wish to create in Arles a place of reflection, creative energy and stimulating artistic dialogue.
