Alaa Abd el-Fattah is a British-Egyptian writer and technologist, who has been a political prisoner in Egypt for most of the past 8 years. Alaa has been on hunger strike since April 2, 2022. On November 6, the first day of COP27—the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt—he will stop drinking water.
We demand his immediate release.
Join us at e-flux this Monday, November 7, 2022 at 6-8pm in support of Alaa Abd el-Fattah. We will be reading from his book You Have Not Yet Been Defeated (2021).
