Littoral Formation

In Littoral Formations, Raffaela Naldi Rossano presents her archive of footage shot with her Mini DV Sony camera as a child (1996–2003). Reflecting on these film diaries, the artist investigates the relationships between memory, artistic gestures, and automatic ways of composing space through moving images. Her Mini DV archive can be seen as a proto-Instagram storytelling of a young girl growing up in southern Italy in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Since 2020, Naldi Rossano has been delving into this archive to orient and reorient her compositions, layering different temporalities and framing in the search for a new space of alliance and cohabitation. She aims to explore the social condition of a generation bridging analogue and digital worlds, evoking her own story: a child growing up with her grandmother, an artist forging new alliances through oral histories and stories with a choir of women from a rural village in Sardinia, and a woman making sense of life in NYC as an observer in transit. Through this work, she proposes the child’s point of view as a queer rewriting of her own story.

This screening is part of SWS the second chapter of the film program TUTTAUNANOTTE, curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi, and unfolding in four chapters between November 1, 2025 and December 26, 2025, with the films of each chapter streaming for two weeks.
