The Tower of Babel in Beppu 

The Tower of Babel in Beppu was presented in 2012 at the contemporary art festival "Mixed Bathing World 2012," held in Beppu, Oita Prefecture. Ozawa was drawn to the diversity that defines Beppu, and used the concept of "mixed bathing" — people of all kinds soaking together in the same hot spring as a way to retell the story of the Tower of Babel, where people were once separated by the barrier of language, reimagining it for the present day. The Asahi Beer neon sign on Beppu Tower was chosen as a symbol of different languages and voices crossing paths. Together with composer Anno Taro, Ozawa formed the "World Mixed Bathing Tower Choir," finding words from various languages hidden within the six characters of "Asahi Beer," then writing lyrics from those words and performing them in song.
