The Ballad of Dan Peoples

Made shortly after the death of her grandfather, whom Steele and Campbell had visited in Kansas en route to L.A., The Ballad of Dan Peoples shows Steele reciting violent and looping memories in front of the video camera while clutching a glass-framed photograph.

The Ballad of Dan Peoples  is presented alongside The Scientist Tapes, part 1, The Woman From Malibu, and The Temperature in Lima as part of the May 2026 edition of e-flux Film’s series Staff Picks featuring Lisa Steele and Colin Campbell.
