P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute

Story of the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute / P74 Gallery - established as an artist-run-space - is a story about practitioners who make spaces for their ideas as well for the ideas of the others. The establishing of the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute & P74 Gallery twenty-six years ago brought a new model of artistic institution and different methodologies of producing of exhibitions as well as an important step away from the classic type of objective exhibition towards a discursive form of operation. At that time there was no production/exhibition space in Ljubljana focused on promotion of the experimental and research driven production of visual and intermedia art. 
The working philosophy of the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute & P74 Gallery was based on ideas and strategies of adaptability, flexibility, intersections of disciplines and discourses, collaboration, exchange and critical approach. In last years a number of research projects that we have prepared have dealt with the topics of locality, language and ideology, participation, alternative energy sources, informal models of economy, transformation of public space, and overlooked art artistic phenomena from the history.
Today we can describe the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute & P74 Gallery as one of the leading producers and galleries for contemporary art in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Gallery’s mission of is to exchange new ideas, promote innovative and challenging models in current art and culture locally and internationally.
