Founded in 2002 by its Curator, Timothy Murray, the Rose Goldsen Archive of New Media Art houses international electronic art work on CD-Rom, DVD-Rom, video, digital interfaces, and the internet. Holdings include extensive collections of video art, special collections in American and Chinese new media arts, online and offline holdings in internet art, works created for CD-Rom, and the empyre- new media listserv. Having developed a unique model of collaborative curation and online outreach, the Goldsen Archive preserves more than 4,000 artworks, 10,000 digital images, and twenty vast archival collections, all available for onsite review, such as Renew Media/Rockefeller New Media Art Fellowships, Experimental Television Center, Wen Pulin Archive of Chinese Avant-Garde Art, New York State Council on the Arts, Yao Jui-Chung Archive of Contemporary Taiwanese Art, Taishin Art Prize (Taiwan), Anarchive (Paris), and Center for Digital Culture (Mexico City). Ephemera include unpublished manuscripts and designs, catalogues, posters, monographs, guides to international electronic art centers and video collectives. Goldsen¹s pioneering work in video digitization and new media preservation has been recognized by grants from NEH, NEA, and NYSCA. The Goldsen Archive of New Media Art is housed in the Cornell Library’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections.
