The Academy of Fine Art at Oslo National Academy of the Arts, part of the Norwegian Programme for Artistic Research, is offering third-cycle education parallel to practice-based PhD programmes across Europe.

Currently, the Oslo National Academy of the Arts has 22 fellows from various artistic disciplines in the programme, four of which are affiliated with the Academy of Fine Art. We have a faculty of 16 staff members at our department, and over 80 guest teachers from Norway and abroad. We work across media, disciplines and approaches, dealing with formal and material concerns as much as post-conceptual, social or political issues.

Information on the position
The Academy of Fine Art puts an emphasis on candidates who have exhibited internationally, actively participate in debates that are relevant in the contemporary art field, and contribute through their work to a critical discussion of the field.

Research fellows are expected to contribute to the institution’s academic environment over a three-year period through activities that are relevant to the research fellowship project—for example, by organising or taking part in relevant seminars, workshops including students, supervision of students with related projects, dissemination, etc. Hence, an ongoing and committed presence at the institution is required during most of the fellowship period.

In order to be admitted to the Research Fellowship Programme, applicants must be able to document recognized artistic work/artistic research of a certain scope and, in most cases, hold a master’s degree. The position is a full-time, fixed-term position of three years with a salary level of SKO 1017, which starts at pay rate 50 (429,700 NOK (approximately 50,000 USD) a year). The position is available from October 1, 2016.
