We Just Fit, You and I
Levels 1 + 0
We Just Fit, You and I probes the boundaries between bodies and architecture. Featuring Michelle Lopez, Sondra Perry, Pamela Rosenkranz, and Michael E. Smith, each artist looks to contemporary technology, unexpected material behavior, and architecture as primary means by which to re-articulate the human form. The artists presented here use the Carpenter Center’s building as site and subject to question this boundary between bodies and space, the human and nonhuman, and ultimately, figure and ground. Organized by guest curator Dina Deitsch, Director and Chief Curator, Tufts University Art Galleries.

Matt Keegan: Replicate
Level 3, Sert Gallery
Matt Keegan’s exhibition at the Carpenter Center, his first institutional solo presentation in the US, brings together works that explore language, cognition, and identity formation. Replicate includes his recent two-channel video, Generation (2016), powder-coated steel and mirror-polished sculptures, and two commissions—a hanging textile and a cardboard-lattice work made in response Le Corbusier’s architecture. Keegan’s works shown here suggest the ways in which meaning is made from specific experiences understood through a given set of constructions that shape our consciousness and understanding. Organized by Daisy Nam, Assistant Director of the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts.

Artist talk: Matt Keegan
Monday, October 23, 6pm
