Alexis Guillier creates visual narratives in the form of performances, films, texts and installations. He questions the circulation of images and cultural productions, parallels and recurrences, the development of imaginary universes, and the interactions between personal fictions and collective stories.

For the first time, the exhibition Twilight Zone: The Movie presents all his investigative work for this multi-faceted project. At its heart is the fatal accident that occurred on the set of Twilight Zone: The Movie, co-directed by John Landis in 1982 (an adaptation of the TV series The Twilight Zone), about which Guillier made a documentary and field enquiry.

Taking the form of a large installation based on archive materials, objects, images and sounds either recorded or produced, the exhibition combines elements of cinema, television, justice, entertainment and popular culture, and includes associations of material factuality and power of the imaginary in the same space-times.

Alexis Guillier (1982) lives and works in Paris. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy in 2010. He has given performances or exhibited in the following: Frac Île de France—le Plateau (2017), Opéra—Palais Garnier (2016), SeMA—Seoul (2016), Palais de Tokyo (2017, 2016, 2012, 2010), Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers (2015), L’Onde—Vélizy-Villacoublay (2015), Cneai—Châtou (2014, 2013), Biennale de Belleville (2014), LE BAL (2014), Walter Phillips Gallery—Banff CA (2013), MAC/VAL (2013), Bétonsalon (2012), Fondation Ricard (2012), CAC—Genève (2011), Piano Nobile—Genève (2011) and Musée National d’Art Moderne—Centre Pompidou (2010).

The Twilight Zone project was selected for financial aid by the FNAGP sponsorship committee and the CNAP’s support production/research committee. The exhibition features as part of Plein Soleil—l’été des centres d’art, offered by the network d.c.a/association de développement des centres d’art.
