Deste Foundation selects Anathena as the first Yellow Room Exhibition
The Deste Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of the exhibition, Anathena, proposed by curators Marina Fokidis & Marina Giotis. Anathena, will commence the exhibition programme of Deste´s Yellow Project room, following the first open call for proposals announced in May 2006.
The jury, composed by Deste Foundation with Deitch Projects and The Wrong Gallery, was extremely impressed with the exceptional quality and breadth of the 250 proposals received, comprising over 700 artists, submitted by artists and curators from Greece and abroad.
The group show Anathena, reflects the ideas and context of the open call with its examination of the new dynamism in contemporary Greek artistic production, focusing on the diverse expressions of creative figures working in street art, music, film, performance and other underground and experimental areas.
The jury members were also impressed by two innovative proposals, Part Time Punks by Lakis Ionas & Aris Ionas and The Symposium by the Athens-based artist group Sayra Art, and have decided to pursue the development of their ideas for future collaborations.
