Intimacy
The unspoken relationship with a loved one or a parent. A stranger’s furtive interest in a club. The touch of a cashier’s hand when she’s giving you change. One can only communicate intimacy through examples. In the arts, its road is usually indirect: the letter, the gift or the living room all serve to symbolize the intimate spaces in which we share our emotions. In the exhibition Intimacy, Amie Dicke, Emily Jacir, Birthe Leemeijer, Keetje Mans, Nishiko, Petra Stavast, Sanne Vaassen and Roy Villevoye make this intimate space tangible.
Chambres d’Amis
Marres has asked the artists to not only to create work for Marres, but also for six houses in Maastricht. Starting Saturday 27 June, the houses are open for four weekends to visitors with a Marres entrance ticket.
Participating artists:
Amie Dicke, Emily Jacir, Birthe Leemeijer, Keetje Mans, Nishiko, Petra Stavast, Sanne Vaassen, and Roy Villevoye.
