The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) invites applications for four full-time faculty positions commencing in August 2020. MICA is a national and international leader in art and design education, research and social and creative practice with long-standing and vibrant relationships to communities and organizations in the City of Baltimore. We are seeking candidates for the following full-time faculty positions:

Director, Rinehart School of Sculpture, MFA 
Graduate Studies seeks a high-profile candidate and dedicated educator with significant professional experience in the arts, sculpture and its expanded fields to serve as the academic and administrative leader of the Rinehart School of Sculpture, MFA. The ideal candidate will have an established practice that demonstrates a critical engagement with art, technology, and culture across a range of fields that may include, but are not limited to, sculpture, public practice, installation, immersive technologies, performance, collaborative or participatory practices. The new director will be open to exploring innovative ways to craft curricula, experiences, and research projects that empower students to drive the future of sculpture, expanded media and socially-engaged arts and media practices. In addition, the director will have an enthusiasm for working in Baltimore and building connections within the dynamic arts scene, spaces and creative community of the City.

Game Designer in Residence
This one-year creative residency is a unique opportunity to work closely with our students, research lab, and the larger MICA community. During the residency, the designer is expected to complete a game or other play-based project and will teach two courses per semester. We are looking for a designer making compelling work in the field of games/play who wants to gain further teaching experience. The resident is expected to be an active member of the game, art, and design communities of the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Baltimore community at large. Applicants proposing projects which creatively engage our community will be given preference.

Game Design: Special Contract
The College seeks an artist or designer with a focus on Game Design for this full-time special contract (with potential for up to 2 year renewal). The candidate will be capable of teaching at all levels of the undergraduate program, be proficient in game design theory, production and programming and have a broad understanding of new approaches in the field of Game Design.  Special consideration will be given to candidates with solid programming skills and the ability to teach game programming courses in Unity.

Graphic Design
The College seeks a vibrant and innovative designer engaged in Graphic Design and committed to inclusive pedagogy. The successful candidate will have a mastery of Graphic Design methods and the ability to teach and work across multiple Graphic Design modalities—from print to screen to object. We seek a professional with pedagogical approaches that are relevant and responsive to a student body that is rich in diversity across race, ethnicity, gender, class, and their intersections. The educator will teach courses across the curriculum and build a community of design excellence.
