AAF CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR is back for its third year in New York City from October 28 through October 31, 2004 at Pier 92 in Manhattan. Formerly The Affordable Art Fair, AAF Contemporary Art Fair returns this year with a new name, style, and commitment to both novice and established art collectors. Over 130 galleries will exhibit at AAF NYC this year, with more than a quarter from South America, Canada, and Europe.

AAF Contemporary Art Fair NYC will feature public programs including a lecture series designed to advise and educate new collectors and first time buyers, children’s workshops and other special exhibitor and visitor services. Visitors are also invited to take advantage of onsite wrapping stations, courtesy of Atelier 4.

A Private Preview Party on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 from 6 to 9 pm will benefit Columbia University School of the Arts Agnes Martin Fellowship Fund, providing fellowships for the School’s young and emerging artists. Panel discussion moderated by Ilene Kurtz-Kretzschmar with Riley Johndonnell, Publisher and Editorial Director, Surface Magazine; Steven Learner, Architect and Designer, Steven Learner Studio; Wendy Goodman, Design Editor, New York Magazine; and Janis Staggs, Assistant Curator, Neue Galerie.

Friday, October 29, 2pm: A Young Artist’s Challenge: Entering the Artworld
Panel discussion moderated by Barbara Hunt, Executive Director of Artists Space, with Jon Kessler, Artist and Chair of the Visual Arts Division, Columbia University School of the Arts; Kevin Zucker, Artist; and Becky Smith, Owner and Director, Bellwether Gallery.

Saturday, October 30, 2pm: For Love or Money: How to Build a Collection
Panel discussion moderated by Jonathan Schwartz, Owner, Atelier 4, with collectors Sue Stoffel and Richard M. Danziger; Jeremy Adams, Director, CUE Art Foundation; and Suzanne Randolph, Art Advisor and Curator.
Children’s Activities
Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31, all day: Children’s Museum of the Arts creative art workshop. Children are invited to participate in making their own Halloween masks.

AAF CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR SAN FRANCISCO:
The latest addition to the Affordable Art Fair network is the AAF Contemporary Art Fair San Francisco. The Fair is to be held at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center, which is located at the intersection of Marina Boulevard and Buchanan Street in the Marina district and will take place from June 23 through 26, 2005. All works at AAF SF will be priced between $100 and $10,000 dollars, with 75% of the work priced under $5,000.

THE AFFORDABLE ART FAIR LONDON also returns this fall with 130 galleries dealers and studio groups from across the UK and abroad. The fair’s ethos of a relaxed environment and the ceiling price of GBP 2,500, coupled with a huge diversity of art mediums and styles, makes it a must-visit event for anyone wanting to make owning original artwork a reality.
