Artistic/Scientific Assistant

The Hochschule für Künste (HfK), Bremen’s University of the Arts, invites interested candidates to apply for the position of an artistic-scientific employee (f/m/d) for the curatorial and organizational support of exhibitions of the Faculty of Art and Design—in particular for the mobile exhibition ship “Dauerwelle” and the multifunctional extension building “Speicher XI A”. 

Dauerwelle 
Thanks to rising numbers of students, courses and public presentations, the university needs to expand spatially—and it does. The university has already opened its own ship “Dauerwelle.” The “Dauerwelle“ is a former excursion ship with a total length of 53 meters that has been converted into an exhibition hall. Concerts, lectures, discussions and project presentations are also planned there, as well as trips along German inland waterways and art events at various Bremen docks. With the ship, a place in the center of the Hanseatic city has been created that will enable different publics and act across social, aesthetic and technological contexts.  

Speicher XI A 
In the fall, the new building “Speicher XI A” will open—with 1,800 square feet for interdisciplinary and experimental studio practices—a new digital/analog open-lab workshop, and a large multi-functional hall with seating for up to 400. It will be equipped for student concerts and opera performances. A catwalk will also host university fashion shows in the glaring spotlight. The hall is also to be set up as a light-flooded exhibition hall for painting, sculpture and graphic art; darkened, it functions perfectly as a space for media installations. The HfK Bremen can also hold congresses on its artistic themes in “Speicher XI A”. Two additional halls provide lecturers and students with bright and individually divisible studios and workshops.
