e-flux Architecture is looking for an Assistant Editor to join its editorial team. This part-time position will work closely with e-flux Architecture editors on its dynamic and evolving calendar of projects, as well as contribute to the development of an events program at e-flux in New York.
e-flux Architecture Assistant Editor
Part-time, approximately 12 hours per week
Start date: September/October 2022
Responsibilities
–Copyediting and proofing essays
–Maintaining project production schedules, including contributor submission deadlines
–Liasing with authors to obtain images, captions, licenses, and biographies
–Working with e-flux’s simple customized backend CMS to upload content; layout text, graphic, video, and audio material; and prepare essays for cross-referencing, dissemination, and archiving
–Managing project invoicing and author payments
–Collaborating with e-flux Architecture editors to conceptualize, organize, and host live programs at e-flux
–Suggesting potential authors for new projects in dialogue with e-flux Architecture editors
Qualifications
–2+ years of editorial experience
–Demonstrable familiarity with architectural theory and history, as well as contemporary modes and urgencies of discursive practice
–Basic understanding of image copyright issues
–Proficiency in MS Word and Photoshop
–Excellent written English and great communication skills
–Ability to work with in-house style and formatting guidelines
–Strong planning and organizational skills, as well as an ability to work self-directed
This job should be done from New York and will be paid on an hourly basis. e-flux Architecture’s dynamic calendar of editorial projects implies a flexible schedule. Weekly hours are distributed around project launches. After six months, the hourly commitment of the position will be re-evaluated.
