The Department of Art and Design/Diploma Degree Programme in Fine Arts at the HfK is seeking to the following position as of April 1, 2025: Professorship for Painting (f/m/d), pay bracket W 3, status of civil servant with unlimited tenure, code number WP 24/03.
The University of the Arts is looking for an artist whose outstanding work is characterised by the expansion of the boundaries of pictorial media and makes a significant contribution to international contemporary art. Teaching should include the study of fine arts with a focus on painting and the associated contemporary discourses.
At least one year’s teaching experience at a university or comparable institution, a university degree and the ability to convey the positioning of the fine arts with regard to painting are required and must be demonstrated at the time of application.
We are looking for a suitable character or artist duo who qualify for a professorship through outstanding artistic achievements and several years of successful international exhibition experience in the above-mentioned teaching field as well as teaching experience and pedagogical aptitude.
Active participation in the further development of the University of the Arts Bremen, collegial cooperation and participation in academic self-administration committees are expected (official language German). The fulfilment of the professorship requires presence and the continuous deployment of work capacity on site at the university. The willingness and ability to teach in German and English is also expected.
In addition, the recruitment requirements according to Section 116 of the Bremen Civil Service Act apply. The University of the Arts endeavours to increase the proportion of women in the artistic-academic field and therefore expressly encourages women to apply.
