2026–27 Open Calls
apexart Open Calls present an opportunity for creatives everywhere/anywhere to have their idea made into an apexart exhibition. We use an online selection process drawing more than 1,000 proposals yearly which are voted on anonymously by more than 1500 people around the world in more than 103 countries. 10 winning proposals become apexart exhibitions, receiving a budget of up to 10,000 USD and apexart staff support to produce a focused, idea-driven exhibition. Classroom/student voting program
The Open Call presents a unique opportunity for students to help determine our exhibition programming. Participating universities and art schools include The New School, Node Center for Curatorial Studies, Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, Brown University, de Appel Curatorial Program, Makere University, MICA, Seoul National University, CalArts, New York University, Goldsmiths, University of London, Boston University, Columbia et. al. apexart NYC Open Call: October 1–31, 2025 (submit) five winning proposals are awarded a budget of up to 10,000 USD and become part of apexart’s 2025-2026 exhibition season in NYC.

apexart International Open Call: February 1–March 1, 2026 (submit) five winning proposals are awarded a budget of up to 11,000 USD and become part of apexart’s 2025-2026 international exhibition season.

2025–26 Fellowships
The apexart Fellowship program is a one month long activity intensive creative catalyst that takes artists through an active schedule of some 70 diverse activities in a new and generally distant location after agreeing not to make art, not to network and not to self promote. Fellows are presented with new ideas through taking part in volunteer activities, workshops, psychotherapy and meetings along with experiences and an opportunity to think in a non-directed way. This program serves as a much needed “time out” that artists don’t often get, to reassess what they are doing and why. Participants are selected by people they know, in their home country who are familiar with their work, their culture, and their “need” for this unorthodox challenge.
