During the Graduation Show 2025 of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) more than 220 art and design works will be on display, each with its own story. After years of study, research and experimentation, students present their final projects during this exhibition taking place from July 3 to July 8, 2025, and is free for everyone. However, don’t forget to book a ticket.

The Graduation Show reflects both the personal and collective experiences of more than 220 international graduates during their time at the academy. The projects by bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students offer profound reflections on pressing social themes, such as identity, artificial intelligence and climate change. During the exhibition, students' craftsmanship takes shape in a variety of disciplines: from paintings and performances to graphic design, installations, and photography series.

The KABK Graduation Catalogue showcases the variety of themes and disciplines of last years: Sean Charlton White (Bachelor Photography, 2023) uses photography and fiction to challenge the traditional forms of documentary while exploring how the Dutch have re-shaped their reality. 'Weaving Narratives of Hope' by Aleksandra Chargeshvelli (Master Industrial Design, 2024) has another angle: it highlights the ecological potential of hemp through craftmanship. Tingyi Jiang (Bachelor ArtScience, 2024) uses the performance called ‘Make it fit’ as a method to explore societal systems and everyday behaviours.

The graduation works show the personal journey that a student has gone through and at the same time question a subject, such as the relationship between men and women, the mourning of a loved one or the relationship to textiles. A graduate of the Textile and Fashion department states: “I try to make societal and psychological topics more accessible”, while a statement from a graduate Master Industrial Design says: “‘I want to face the ecological challenges of today”. Another work is about providing an opening for a talk about the relationship between men and women: “My work is an entry to talk about tradwives”, a graduate of the Bachelor Graphic Design says.

As you wander through the monumental academy building, you hence never know what you might encounter. The Graduation Show celebrates diversity and embraces the creative individual, along with all their dreams and vulnerabilities.
