The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) warmly invites prospective students to join the upcoming Online Study Orientation Events for our international master’s programmes. We offer both portfolio advice and Q&A sessions that aim not only to prepare you for the application process but also to help you to visualise what it might be like to study at KABK.
These sessions are a great opportunity to learn more about each study path. Offering direct insights from current tutors and students, they will help you to get a true feeling of what each course entails. Registration is required for all events
Portfolio advice sessions (online)
Want to improve or finesse your portfolio? We offer sessions for prospective students who wish to receive feedback before submitting their application. These insights are invaluable to your application to KABK. It is important to note that you must already have a portfolio (at least in progress— it does not have to be finished!) to take part in these sessions.

The international master’s programmes at KABK are for artists and designers who wish to expand and deepen their practice through cross-disciplinary investigation and reflection. Led by a diverse and socially engaged faculty, each course encourages interaction with contemporary issues through research, studio, and theoretical practice.
Master Artistic Research encourages engagement with contemporary issues and explores how knowledge is held within aesthetic production. Teaching takes the form of practical and theoretical research. You deepen your artistic work through studio practice, theory, and writing courses
Master ArtScience is offered in an interdisciplinary learning environment that fosters curiosity-driven research. Its interdisciplinary focus intersects the existing fields of music, visual arts, media art and other artistic disciplines, humanities and the natural sciences.
Master Industrial Design educates designers who want to transform industry. Aiming to envision more diverse and sustainable futures by questioning the conventions of industrial systems, students create outspoken products and projects based on research that defines the position of the designer in the professional field.
At the heart of the Master Interior Architecture (INSIDE) is the idea that expertise lies in the relationship between people and their immediate living environment. In this relationship, values such as sustainability and inclusion are increasingly important to the built environment and, more broadly, to all places where people come together.
Master Non Linear Narrative merges investigative methods of journalism and forensics, utilising computer science and visual arts with a contemporary, avant-garde design approach: non-linear storytelling. The programme repositions graphic design in the changing professional landscape and extends it with new responsibilities towards society.
Master Photography and Society educates socially engaged photographers exploring the technological, political, environmental and social role of photography. Our aim is to develop relationships beyond our disciplinary boundaries to comprehend the complex role of imagery within contemporary visual culture.
Master Type and Media is a one-year programme that delves into type design and typography for different contexts, including print, screens and interactive media. Students will work intensively in a group of no more than 12 under the guidance of experts and teachers from the KABK and abroad.
