The University of Applied Arts Vienna is one of the world's leading art universities. Founded in 1867 as the Imperial and Royal Arts and Crafts School, today the university is characterised by a broad spectrum of artistic, scientific and transdisciplinary fields of study, including fine arts, design, fashion, architecture, language arts and art studies.
We are looking for a scientifically and/or artistically outstanding leader with experience in university management and international experience who can lead the Angewandte with openness, creative drive, support competence, innovative strength as well as implementation strength and align it with future requirements.
Requirements (in accordance with Section 23 para. 2 of the Universities Act)
–International experience
–Knowledge of the Austrian and European university system
–Ability to manage a university in organisational and economic terms
Other expected qualifications
–Completed artistic, scientific or technical studies, many years of management experience and experience in strategic organisational development at the highest level
–Knowledge of science, research, teaching and mediation as well as awareness of the importance of further development and expertise in implementing measures that promote a comprehensively inclusive, barrier-free and equal-opportunity institution
–Sound knowledge of artistic and academic processes and their interdisciplinary contexts
–Familiarity with the institutional culture of an art university
–Experience in international networks and in the acquisition of third-party funding as well as experience in conducting negotiations with public and private negotiating partners
–A high degree of communication, integration and cooperation skills with a focus on trusting and constructive cooperation with university committees, all employees and students and the goal of an inclusive and diversity-sensitive university culture
–Critical positioning in socially relevant cultural and educational policy discourses
–The ability to stand up for the university and its autonomy in politics, business and society and to promote the sustainable development of the university and its social responsibility
–Business fluent in German and English
