The Foundation is delighted to welcome French designer Pablo Bras, who has been given carte blanche for the exhibition Hors Saison, showcasing the result of his residency and his research from previous years. Born in 1994 and a graduate of ENSCI, Bras has spent several years exploring natural and artificial phenomena within habitats, focusing on the question of energy.
In collaboration with curator Olivier Zeitoun, the exhibition questions the ability of design to use invisible flows of air, light, and heat as materials in their own right for creating both objects and habitats, a process of inquiry that has been more circular than linear in nature. Bras makes precise use of heat and energy, providing exactly what is needed at the right time, paying great attention to the site’s history and inherent qualities.
Channeling the thermal and energetic forces of the exhibition space, the designer presents an arrangement of pieces that create a fluid environment responsive to the three seasons his installation will traverse.
Through architectural gestures and prototypes aimed at rendering the atmospheric qualities of the space palpable, across the seasons and according to our needs, the project invites us to feel variations in temperature through a system of air currents, ventilation, and simple heating and cooling techniques.
Open and reproducible, the objects distributed throughout the space interact within a dynamic flow, thus recreating microclimates. This project encourages questioning the ecology of a place and the modalities of our comfort.
