Ghost 2568: Wish We Were Here

Following Ghost 2561 curated by Ghost co-founder Korakrit Arunanondchai and Ghost 2565: Living Without Dead Time curated by Christina Li, this final edition Ghost 2568: Wish We Were Here curated by Amal Khalaf runs from October 15 to November 16, 2025 throughout Bangkok.

In a time of displacement, rupture and loss Ghost 2568: Wish We Were Here is a song for human and non-human survival within the ever shrinking spaces of freedom in our cities. A meeting place where our deepest yearnings for each other, for lost places and ways of being can take shape and find rest, Ghost:2568 traces the edges of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya river and explores our entanglements with each other, the worlds we want to live in and the messy, unruly and ungovernable ways we bring those worlds about.

Violence is folded within narrow views and limited perspectives. To cultivate multidimensional thinking, Ghost offers spaces to commune to gather in rebellion, joy and shared heartbreaks. Ghost becomes a way to be, a way to do things, floating above and through things, having a distanced, more wild perspective. Bringing together artists, fashion collectives, dancers, poets, musicians, neighbours, and metaphysical practitioners to surface genealogies and trajectories of Ghost thinking. Like an overflowing river remembering where it is supposed to flow. Ghost:2568 is offered as a praxis or a methodology, a summoning, to think about the place of performance, video sound and voice through concepts of community, personal and collective histories, power relations and gender, and the formation or lack of collective political imagination.

Ghost:2568 features projects by Sophia Al-Maria, Stephanie Comilang, Jeanne Penjan Lassus, Dan Lie, Mekh Limbu, Noor Abed, Bhenji Ra, Komtouch Napattaloong with Kaisa Saarinen and Bart Seng Wen Long, Rosalia Namsai Engchuan with Fiona Tarini Graham, Ho Tzu Nyen, Don’t Follow the Wind with works by Chim↑Pom from Smappa!Group, Aiko Miyanaga, and Kota Takeuchi, Ryan Trecartin. As well as two new commissions by Montika Kham-on and Tanat Teeradakorn, new performances by IWANNABANGKOK©, Puangsoi Aksornsawang, Thanapol Virulhakul and BACKROOM and more to be announced.

Returning to haunt Ghost:2568, Korakrit Arunanondchai brings an expansion to the time-based nature of Ghost as well as projects with returning artists by Christina Li and the alternative pedagogical platform curated by Pongsakorn Yananissorn.

Wish We Were songs for Ghost
In the final breath of Ghost:2568, we find ourselves at the crossroads of history, ideology, and longing. Music and sound becomes a body, a home, and a language to communicate certain impossibilities into realities that can be felt. A sanctuary for the displaced, a resonant body for connections amidst the cacophony of our times. Curated by Korakrit Arunanondchai, the program invites artists Gatekeeper, Ashland Mines, and more.

Ghost: Bodies Dispossessed
What happens when a ghost ceases to be affixed to a body? How does an itinerant ghost’s cumulated experience of multiple lives, places and displacements unfold and manifest in a new body and city? Within this framework, we will delve into Ghost’s ever-expanding archive of contributors and invite artists to expound their existing ideas or develop new formats that engender new ways of living together through storytelling and collective practices with members of the Host:2568. In a continued act of “ghosting” Ghost 2565: Live Without Dead Time’s actual iteration Ghost: Bodies Dispossessed features new works by Orawan Arunrak, Raqs Media Collective, and Koki Tanaka – curated again and in mirroring places by Christina Li – who acts in continuation here as the curator of the Bangkok iterations and for future ghosting projects with and through Hartwig Art Foundation in her home of living Amsterdam.

Host:2568
Expanding on the sentiments throughout previous Ghosts, what unites us and the agencies of our stories beyond ourselves. Host:2568 is an alternative pedagogical program curated by Pongsakorn Yananissorn that redefines Ghost docents’ positions within the series and wider ecosystem. Embodying experiences as friends and companions, the program fosters a platform for discourse for emerging practitioners.

The Co-host of Ghost:2568 is OPEN FIELD, a non-profit organization based in Bangkok. Supporting partners include ECCA Family Foundation, Hartwig Art Foundation, The Japan Foundation, Bangkok, and Ghost Support Circle. Venue partners are Asvin Bangkok, Baan Thewes, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok CityCity Gallery, and The Jim Thompson Art Center, with more partners to be announced.
