Fiera Milano presents the 30th edition of miart, the international modern and contemporary art fair directed by Nicola Ricciardi, taking place from April 17–19, 2026 (VIP preview on Thursday 16 April) in the new South Wing of Allianz MiCo, welcoming 160 galleries from 24 countries and further consolidating its role within the European art fair landscape.

Entitled New Directions—a tribute to the renowned 1963 album by American musician John Coltrane (1926–1967), on the occasion of the centenary of his birth—miart 2026 embraces jazz’s ability to transform a familiar standard into fertile ground for innovation. The fair undergoes a transformation that permeates every aspect of its identity: from curatorial content and visual identity to the very experience of the visitor.

Noteworthy among the participants are prestigious galleries choosing Milan for the first time or returning after several years’ absence, including Alfonso Artiaco (Naples), Bortolami (New York), DIE GALERIE (Frankfurt), Lyles & King (New York), Nino Mier Gallery (New York, Brussels), Soft Opening (London), Trautwein Herleth (Berlin) and Kate Werble Gallery (New York).

Three sections will shape the 30th edition of the fair, combining long-standing pillars with new perspectives.

Established returns with 111 galleries, once again proving to be the ideal framework for established players defining the present of international art. The exhibition offering will range from masterpieces of modern art to recent productions, including selected examples of collectible design.

This year miart is further enriched by the meta-section Established Anthology, involving 20 galleries with exhibition projects united by the intention to narrate the complexity, trajectories and transformations of time. The works will explore themes such as cyclicality and metamorphosis, oblivion and memory, waiting and the imagination of the future, playing with temporal leaps, stratifications and chronological inversions, while questioning possible futures, whether real or dystopian. Established Anthology aims to activate a generative dialogue between modernist languages and contemporary practices, promoting a harmonious balance that amplifies their resonances, in keeping with miart’s long-standing focus on chronological cross-references.

Emerging galleries that invest in the future of art through experimental projects and support for younger generations of artists will once again take centre stage in Emergent, curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini. In an expanded section featuring 29 galleries from around the world, many are participating in the Milanese fair for the first time, reaffirming miart’s role as a key platform for the most current artistic practices.
These include Amanita (New York, Rome), COMMUNE (Vienna), Crome Yellow M & C (Johannesburg), Ehrlich Steinberg (Los Angeles), Alice Folker Gallery (Copenhagen), Gaa (New York, Cologne), MERKUR (Istanbul), Satine (Venice), South Parade (London) and TBA (Warsaw).

miart 2026 will also introduce an unprecedented special project dedicated to the moving image. Movements is born from a collaboration with the St. Moritz Art Film Festival and from the encounter between the theme of the festival’s fifth edition—If Music—and miart’s curatorial direction. Curated by Stefano Rabolli Pansera, Artistic Director of SMAFF, the programme will present films created exclusively by artists represented by galleries participating in the fair, fostering a direct dialogue between exhibitors and the festival’s experimental cinema research.
