miart international modern and contemporary art fair

On the occasion of its thirtieth edition, miart—the international modern and contemporary art fair organized by Fiera Milano and directed by Nicola Ricciardi—presents Established, its main section, on Level 0 of the South Wing at Allianz MiCo. Bringing together 111 galleries from across the world, the section spans the twentieth century and the present, staging exchanges between modern masters, contemporary practices, and collectible design.
Established articulates one of miart’s defining propositions: the coexistence of different temporalities, media, and lineages within a framework where the contemporary emerges through continuity as much as through rupture, return, and revision. Across the section, solo presentations, intergenerational dialogues, historical constellations, and geographically focused projects reflect a plurality of approaches, with painting, sculpture, installation, ceramics, and photography deployed to register the conditions of the present.
Among the monographic stands, MASSIMODECARLO presents Nicole Wittenberg, whose paintings develop from plein air pastel studies into sensorial, light-filled compositions. Galleria dello Scudo focuses on Emilio Vedova’s late production, foregrounding works from the 1980s and 1990s marked by gestural intensity and spatial tension. Andrew Kreps Gallery and SpazioA highlight Chiara Camoni, who has been called to represent Italy at the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale and whose practice—spanning drawing, plant prints, ceramics, and collaboration—introduces a relational and organic dimension to the section. Galleria Francesca Minini, in its turn, presents a focus on Phoebe Collings-James, marking the beginning of the artist’s collaboration with the gallery.
Dialogue remains a central format. EHRHARDT FLÓREZ, for instance, brings together Luis Claramunt and Fernando García, linking painting and sculpture through experiences of travel, displacement, and transformation, while Corvi-Mora pairs Bethan Lloyd Worthington and David Lieske in a presentation attentive to friction between matter, language, and identity, and Galerie Hubert Winter stages an intergenerational encounter between Simone Fattal and Judith Fegerl, framing the stand as a site of exchange across practices and perspectives. Consonni Radziszewski also presents a project that highlights the possibilities for dialogue offered by its unprecedented international and intergenerational program, born from the merger of the two galleries.
Several galleries sharpen the relation between historical and contemporary work. Gió Marconi juxtaposes artists including Valerio Adami, Mario Schifano, Emilio Tadini, Man Ray, and Louise Nevelson with Trisha Baga, Matthew Brannon, Alex Da Corte, Patrizio Di Massimo, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, and Tai Shani. Dep Art Gallery, on the other hand, focuses on figuration across Italy and the United States, bringing together Salvo, Valerio Adami, Tom Wesselmann, and Alex Katz. Other projects take a historical-critical approach. DIE GALERIE revisits CoBrA through the works of Appel, Jorn, Corneille, Alechinsky, Lucebert, Pedersen, and Karl Otto Götz, presenting the movement less as a closed episode than as an ongoing formal and ethical proposition. Studio Guastalla Arte Moderna e Contemporanea surveys Italian art between the 1960s and 1980s, tracing the tension between avant-garde experimentation and the return to painting.
Established also opens onto specific art scenes. WHATIFTHEWORLD presents a focus on South Africa, with works addressing memory, labor, material history, and social ecologies. Avantgarde Gallery turns to Croatia, where painting, sculpture, performance, and installation appear as forms of inquiry rather than representation. Finally, in addition to welcoming galleries participating for the first time or returning after several years of absence—such as Bortolami, Bukia Vakhania, Soft Opening, and Kate Werble Gallery—Established sees the entry of four galleries that had participated in the Emergent section in previous years: eastcontemporary, Ginny on Frederick, Rose Easton, and Zaza’. Their inclusion in the main section underscores miart’s continued investment in younger galleries and in the conditions for renewal within the art system.
Those listed are just a few examples of the projects at miart 2026, the complete list of participating galleries can be found here.
