Professorship Art in Public Space & Professorship Film

The University of Fine Arts Münster (Kunstakademie Münster) is looking for a Professor for Art in Public Space and a Professor for Film, to start in the Summer semester of 2027.

For the Professorship Art in Public Space we are looking for an internationally recognized artist with an outstanding body of work, with a significant exhibition experience and the qualification to lead an artistic class. An engagement with contemporary questions and perspectives of art in the public space is a prerequisite.

For the Professorship Film we are seeking an outstanding, internationally recognized filmmaker or artist with a diverse, film-based practice to lead an artistic class. The ideal candidate’s practice should examine the relationships between film and other time-based media—including video, sound, web, or digital art—and address structural barriers artistic or social contexts.

The requirements for employment are set out in Section 29 KunstHG NRW (Art Colleges Act of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia). In addition to the general requirements under service law, prerequisites include, among others, a completed degree, usually in the arts, and outstanding artistic achievement. However, an appointment may also be made on the basis of a special aptitude for artistic work. The willingness to participate in the administration of the academy and to help shape the university is assumed. Knowledge of German could be an advantage in this context.
