The Lisbon Architecture Triennale is pleased to announce that Joaquim Moreno will be the Chief Curator of its eighth edition, taking place in the autumn of 2028.
Joaquim Moreno (Luanda, 1973) is an architect and curator with extensive work on the relationships between architecture and exhibitions, media, pedagogy, and energy. His research work is substantiated in exhibitions and accompanying books such as Radar Veneza: Portuguese Architects in the Biennale 1975-2021 (Casa da Arquitectura, with Alexandra Areia), The University is Now on Air: Broadcasting Modern Architecture (Canadian Centre for Architecture), Classroom, a Teenage View (arc en rêve centre d'architecture, CCB Architecture Centre and Z33 House for Contemporary Art, Design & Architecture) and Storytelling Meters at MAAT—Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. Moreno is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and director of the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture.
Reflecting on his appointment, Joaquim Moreno remarks: “As we approach the eighth edition, it is essential to nurture the yeast that has been quietly fermenting for nearly twenty years at the Lisbon Triennale. Each new batch resumes the slow rising of the renewed purpose of increasing architecture's commitment to the city. It is an immense joy to be called upon with the care of this process.”
As this new cycle begins, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale reaffirms its commitment to a forward-looking programme that serves as a meeting ground for discussing future disciplinary strategies. Joaquim Moreno has been entrusted with leading a process in which the three-year timeframe opens up a rare space for experimentation and depth.
Past editions have included multiple exhibitions, a score of independent projects, urban installations, performances and conferences at some of the most relevant cultural venues in the Portuguese capital; three awards—Achievement, Début and Universities; dozens of activities; and dedicated book collections that expand on the themes addressed.

The Lisbon Architecture Triennale is a non-profit association dedicated to championing spatial research, fostering architectural discourse and catalyzing change. Every three years, it holds a major international forum for the reflection, debate and dissemination of architecture that crosses geographic and disciplinary boundaries.
