Idea Museum, After Tomorrow

Leeum Museum of Art presents Idea Museum, After Tomorrow, a flagship public project showcasing an “evolving glossary” selected from the museum’s previous research programs. On view through November 29, 2026, in the Auditorium Lounge, the project revisits the questions and practices explored through the initiative since its 2023 launch, bringing them together through language, space, and movement.

Idea Museum explores contemporary issues through artistic and interdisciplinary perspectives, guided by the principles of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equality, and Accessibility (IDEA), and is supported by the CHANEL Culture Fund. In the years since, the program has engaged artists, thinkers, and diverse voices through lectures, workshops, symposia, and screenings. It has addressed subjects ranging from climate change and sustainability to gender, diversity, and new ways of understanding knowledge and coexistence.

Positioned between archived records and forward-looking ideas, Idea Museum, After Tomorrow considers how cultural institutions can continue to learn from and adapt to a changing world. Rather than serving as a conclusion to the program's history so far, the project approaches its accumulated questions and ideas as an open-ended glossary—one that can be revisited, reinterpreted, and expanded through new encounters.

An evolving glossary for an unscripted future
At the heart of Idea Museum, After Tomorrow, a collection of vocabulary that has emerged from the program's discussions and activities has brought together in an exhibition.

The exhibition space is designed to be a place for pause and reflection by architect Dammy Dami Lee of Flora and Fauna. Conceived as a threshold between what has been explored and what is yet to come, the space offers visitors a moment to pause, encounter new ideas, and prepare for what might emerge next. Sound, moving images, publications, and tactile objects come together in a multisensory installation that invites close, unhurried engagement—transforming the lounge into a dynamic forum where different perspectives meet, overlap, and generate new conversations.

The glossary is structured as an open wiki. It allows visitors to navigate entries freely, discover connections between ideas, and contribute new terms based on their personal experiences and insights. Rather than assigning fixed definitions, the words remain open to new interpretations, ready to be reshaped with each visit growing beyond the exhibition itself. The project features the editorial expertise of graphic design duo Sulki and Min (Choi Sulki and Choi Sung Min), visual designer Kwon Suzin, and editor Lee Donghwi. 

"Idea Museum, After Tomorrow is not meant to be a wrap-up of the studies and questions we've developed over the past three years, but rather a launchpad for fresh dialogue and collaboration. We hope Idea Museum continues to serve as an open platform where new vocabularies can take shape alongside our visitors," said Helen Jungyeon Ku, Head of Research and Public Programs at Leeum Museum of Art.

Admission to Idea Museum, After Tomorrow is free and open to the public. Talks and gatherings will take place throughout the project’s run.
