Poetic Space
Unscathed among things
March 14–April 19, 2026
Chongqing
China
Poetic Space–Unscathed Among Things is the first solo exhibition in China by Donatella Spaziani, hosted by the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Art Museum, one of the country’s most prestigious Fine Arts academies, which has maintained a longstanding partnership with the Fine Academy of Arts of Florence.
The project, promoted by Zerynthia–Association for Contemporary Art OdV, is presented under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in China and with the support of the Consolato Generale d’Italia in Chongqing. The exhibition also benefits from the patronage of the Fine Academy of Fine Arts of Frosinone, further strengthening academic and cultural dialogue between Italy and China.
Poetic Space emerges as a place of encounter and listening. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider art as a shared space, capable of transcending geographical and cultural boundaries in order to foster a profound dialogue between two millennia-old traditions.
Despite the distance between them, Italy and China share a common poetic sensibility in their perception of “form and void” and “movement and stillness.” It is precisely within this subtle tension between presence and suspension that Donatella Spaziani’s work is situated.
The exhibition brings together drawings, photographs, wallpapers, and sound installations in a delicate yet rigorous visual language, capable of building a bridge between seemingly distant realities.
Zerynthia
Founded in 1991, Zerynthia–Association for Contemporary Art OdV promotes and organizes contemporary art projects in Italy and internationally, operating as a flexible structure complementary to museum systems. Chaired by Mario Pieroni, the Association has collaborated with numerous international artists and participated in major exhibitions and biennials, actively contributing to the dissemination of contemporary culture and to educational activities within Academies and cultural institutions.
Donatella Spaziani
Born in Ceprano in 1970, Donatella Spaziani teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts of Frosinone and is recognized a sensitive and independent voice in contemporary Italian art. Her practice spans multiple media—from drawing to photography, from installation to sound art—focusing on the relationship between body and space and exploring themes such as memory, the passage of time, the relationship between humanity and nature, suspension, and silence. Her works have been presented in major institutions in Italy and abroad, consolidating a coherent and poetic artistic trajectory.
