The University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning launches its fall 2026 lecture and exhibition series, bringing together an international cohort of academics, practitioners, and curators whose work is shaped by specific geographies, constraints, histories, and forms of knowledge. The series begins from the premise that spatial practice is never produced in isolation, but always through the pressures and possibilities of particular conditions: material, climatic, economic, political, institutional, and cultural. Taking the question “Is practice circumstantial?” as its polemic, and drawing on perspectives from across this international range of practice, the series asks participants to reflect on the priorities currently shaping their work, and how those priorities navigate the uncertainties and seemingly mundane aspects of production that can become conceptually consequential in the formation of a project, and ultimately, a practice.
