Nomad Art Residency’s program is intentionally small, only four to six practitioners per cohort.  Two tracks are available. The selected residents for four-week Nomad Track receives dedicated time and space to deepen their practice.  The program provides off-site private accommodation, studio, guided immersion in the district’s multicultural landscape, network to Bangkok’s contemporary art galleries and institutions, and direct access to a community of over ten working Thai artists in the same building.

The twelve-week Lab Track residents receives all of the above plus a support by a dedicated Curatorial Mentor who engages with their work across multiple sessions, facilitated peer critique and additionally undertake a four-day field research component with the Pga K’nyau hill tribe community at Baan Nong Tao and a city visit in Chiang Mai—another important art hub of Thailand.  The residents have a direct encounter with indigenous ecological knowledge that grounds the program’s thematic ambitions in lived human experience.

Nomad Art Residency Bangkok welcomes practitioners whose research and practice engage seriously with ecology, land, water, indigenous knowledge, and the cultural and political relationships that form around these questions. Residents not only pursue their individual research trajectories but develop their thinking in sustained dialogue with their cohort; sharing practices, testing ideas across disciplines, and participating in a public program event that closes each cycle.

The program is committed to assembling cohorts with genuine geographic, disciplinary, and gender diversity.  A Scholar Rate is available at the organization’s discretion for exceptional practitioners from underrepresented funding contexts.

The four-week Nomad Track (55,000 THB / approx. USD 1,570) is open to self-funding mid-career practitioners. The twelve-week Lab Track (240,000 THB / approx. USD 6,860) offers a deeper research and production cycle with the full suite of curatorial and community support. Both tracks are open through this open call and by invitation. All accepted residents receive a formal letter of invitation and itemized budget documentation to support grant applications in their home country.

Applicants requiring an early decision to meet a home country funding deadline are invited to indicate this in their application.
