Southnord is a leading cultural platform dedicated to amplifying the voices and talents of Black artists in the Nordic region. Located in the heart of Södermalm, Stockholm’s vibrant art district, Southnord provides a dynamic space for artists to create, collaborate, and share their unique perspectives. Since its inception, Southnord has collaborated with key organisations, individuals and contributors to create programmes that foster artistic expression, cultural exchange, and community engagement.

Founded in 2023 by Zimbabwean-born curator and artist Marcia Harvey Isaksson, Southnord aims to builds archives digitally and physically through an ever-growing library of artist interviews, performances, reference art books and a permanent art collection. They also work to make space for new voices through their UPNEXT open call, that gives young Afro-Nordic artists an opportunity to have a solo exhibition in Stockholm. In 2025, they launched a new residency program in collaboration with the Lusaka Contemporary Art Centre, LuCAC in Zambia to connect Afro-Nordic artists and curators to the Continent. Their mission is to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity and inspire dialogue through the power of art.
