Following the month-long submission process in October and the one-month voting period of November, apexart is excited to announce the winning exhibition proposals from the New York City Open Call. The following five exhibitions will be presented as part of the organization’s 2023–24 exhibition season.
apexart Open Call exhibitions are selected through a crowd-sourced voting process, in which hundreds of anonymous proposals are rated by an international jury of nearly 700 people. Without politics or “helping friends,” jurors review the written proposal idea, communicated in 500 words or less. This process ensures that the ideas are unique, compelling, and reflective of the hundreds of people who want to see them transformed from a proposal into an exhibition.
Five proposals were selected from 417 submissions, rated by 700 jurors who cast over 20,000 votes, with submissions and jurors representing more than 71 countries.

Bruna Shapira: Fruits of Labor— Reframing Motherhood and Artmaking
Brazil
Calls for a shift in the paradigms of both mothering and artistic expression by arguing that motherhood is not in conflict with artmaking but rather the prevailing narratives framing womanhood.
