The Graduate Diploma opens up new possibilities for students looking to join the world’s number one Art and Design University and take their career to the next level. The 30-week programme is designed to prepare students for the step up to postgraduate Master’s study, by focusing on developing the independent learning methods and practices of art and design.

The style of learning is deliberately interdisciplinary in nature, mirroring the experience of Master’s study at the Royal College of Art. However, on the Graduate Diploma students are invited to select a specialism when applying: Communication, Design, Fashion & Textiles, Fine Art and Research. Students who complete the Graduate Diploma with a distinction are guaranteed entry to MA and MRes programmes that reflect their Graduate Diploma specialism (subject to requirements and availability).

To make the transition between undergraduate and postgraduate learning easier, the Graduate Diploma offers a number of flexible study options. The programme can be undertaken on-campus, online or as dual-learning modes of study (15-weeks online and 15-weeks on-campus). Start dates also vary, beginning in January, May or September. This allows students the flexibility to fit their studies around their lifestyles.

“The Graduate Diploma fulfilled even the best of predictions: I met so many different people and forged important relationships. The course was crucial in preparing me to tackle briefs in a structured yet very personal manner. It gave me tools and support that was incredibly valuable for my MA.” —Vivee Barengo, MA Information Experience Design, Graduate Diploma 2019.
