Anyone interested in studying “Media Arts” and applying for the winter semester 2026/27 at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne is welcome to take a digital stroll!
The study office and teaching staff of the KHM will talk about and provide insights into the goals and possibilities of studying at the KHM—“Media Arts” in nine semesters (undergraduate, diploma I) or four semesters (postgraduate, diploma II).
What is the difference between undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the KHM? What should I apply for and by when? What artistic specialisations are hidden behind the umbrella term “Media Arts”?
Majors such as Animation, Cinematography, Experimental Film, Video Art, Experimental Computer Science, Sound Art, Artistic Photography, Art and Media Studies, Mixed Media Art, Performance, Literary Writing, Screenwriting and Directing for Feature and Documentary Film will be presented throughout the day.
The program starts via Zoom at 10am and ends at 6pm. The Zoom links will be published on this page two days in advance.

10–11am: Study and application procedure
Information about study / application procedure with the Office of Student Affairs and International Affairs.
2–3pm: Art and Media Studies
With lecturers on the subject areas of Art Studies with an expanded concept of material, Queer studies, Transversal Aesthetics.
3–4pm: exMedia
Featuring faculty on the artistic focus areas of Animation / 3D, Experimental computer Science, Literary writing, Sound Art, Globalization Discourse and Transformational Design.
4–5pm: Art
Featuring faculty on artistic focus areas of Networks, Video Art & Performance, Artistic Photography, Multispecies Storytelling, Public Art, Contemporary Art / Global South, Experimental Film, Painting & Sculpture.
5–6pm: Film & Television
With faculty on artistic concentrations: Screenwriting, Cinematography, Directing for Feature and Documentary Films, Film Theory.
