The info day takes place digitally
December 2, 2026, 10am
Anyone interested in studying “Media Arts” and applying for the winter semester 2027/28 at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne is welcome to take a digital stroll! There is a rich offer of video conferences on the different aspects and artistic focuses of the study program "Media Arts" at the KHM, which you can dial into.
All applicants take part in an application procedure, in which samples of artistic/design work are submitted (e.g. videos/films, photographs, computer graphics/animation, drawings, texts, compositions, music videos). The application period is from November to January/February (Deadline for Diploma I: January 22, 2027; Deadline for Diploma II: January 11, 2027). Courses always begin in the winter semester.
The study office and teaching staff of the KHM will talk about and provide insights into the goals and possibilities of studying at the KHM—“Media Arts” in nine semesters (undergraduate, diploma I) or four semesters (postgraduate, diploma II).
What is the difference between undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the KHM? What should I apply for and by when? What artistic specialisations are hidden behind the umbrella term “Media Arts”?
Majors such as Animation, Cinematography, Experimental Film, Video Art, Experimental Computer Science, Sound Art, Artistic Photography, Art and Media Studies, Installation, Performance, Literary Writing, Screenwriting and Directing for Feature and Documentary Film will be presented throughout the day.
The program starts via Zoom at 10am and ends at 6pm. The Zoom links will be published here on the KHM website shortly before then: Info day at KHM
