Fundación Ama Amoedo is pleased to announce the grantees of the third edition of the Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants. A total of 10 projects were selected from more than 2,500 applications from 60 countries in the categories Artists, Art and Social Engagement, Organizations, and Publications. Each awardee will receive support of 10,000 dollars for the development and materialization of their proposals.
The Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants aim to provide resources and opportunities that strengthen the art ecosystem. Focusing on Latin America and its diaspora, the program seeks to enhance the work of artists and institutions, by fostering the expansion of their practices, and encouraging a deeper understanding of the region’s artistic contributions.

We received applications from across the globe, reflecting the reach and relevance that the program has acquired over the past three years.’ says Ama Amoedo, President and founder. ‘Having such a prestigious jury has been a real privilege. Their backgrounds and diversity of perspectives brought invaluable depth to the selection process' , highlights Amoedo.
The jury was composed of Marielsa Castro (Chief Curator, Museo de Arte Moderno, Medellín), José Roca (Estrellita B. Brodsky Curator at large of Latin American and Latin Diasporic Art, Hirshhorn Museum, Washington), Susanna V. Temkin (Interim Chief Curator, El Museo del Barrio, New York), and Verónica Flom (Director, Fundación Ama Amoedo): "The selection of the grantees was based on proposals that were considered to be the most relevant for this moment and context. We chose to highlight Latin American projects, supporting emerging artists while also acknowledging the work of established ones. The selection reflects the diversity of artistic practices in the region and fosters the growth and development of both the artists and the communities they engage with. We are confident that, through this support, meaningful projects will be completed."

In the Artists category, Paloma Contreras (Mexico) will create an immersive installation combining sculpture, video, and sound, that reimagines a funerary landscape interwoven with the rhythms and symbols of Mexican popular culture; Ignacio Gatica (Chile) will use the grant to create Sanhatan, a video work that offers a poetic-documentary reflection on the development of Santiago's financial center and its link to the culture of Wall Street in New York; Claudia Joskowicz (Bolivia) will produce a three-channel video installation that explores the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia from a critical and political perspective; Dani Umpi (Uruguay) will present his first institutional comprehensive exhibition of his visual production, which will take place in Montevideo.
In the Art and Social Engagement category, Alianza Wichí (Argentina) proposes to develop a collaborative and intergenerational art initiative with the Silät women's weaving collective in northern Argentina; Nube Lab (Chile) will co-design playground interventions with three Latin American artists to create performative and playful spaces for children in six elementary schools in Santiago.
In the Organizations category, Lugar a dudas (Colombia) will use the grant to carry out a public program in the city of Cali that will be presented in tune with a major international exhibition; Sertão Negro (Brazil) will dedicate the grant to its artist residency program, including a stay at the Quilombo Kalunga, documenting and disseminating the works and knowledge of Afro-Brazilian artists.
In the Publications category, Jorge Macchi (Argentina) will produce RETOUR, an artist’s book based on texts and objects found in public spaces near his studio in Buenos Aires; Revista Balam (Honduras/Argentina) will edit and print a new edition of their photobook-magazine, dedicated exclusively to highlighting the experiences and poetics of the Caribbean queer community.
