Raven Chacon is a composer, performer, and visual artist born at Fort Defiance, Navajo Nation. Chacon is the winter quarter spotlight artist in residence in The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies. Co-sponsored by the William E. Valente Endowment in the Department of Music.

Stephanie Syjuco works in photography, sculpture, and installation. Her recent work has focused on how photography and image-based processes are implicated in the construction of exclusionary narratives of history and citizenship.

About the Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program at UC Davis
The Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program at UC Davis challenges students to cultivate curiosity and sustain the courage to embrace the unknown through art. Art students at the undergraduate and graduate level are encouraged to explore a broad range of disciplines and to participate in opportunities outside the classroom, including The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies, the Betty Jean and Wayne Thiebaud Lecture, the Visiting Artist Lecture Series, professional practice seminars, student exhibitions, competitions and internships. The department supports 14 generously funded MFA students and attracts students from all over the United States and the world.
